This book is great. Challenging and so much fun! I took it with me on a recent trip to China with 11 college students as something to pass the travel time on planes, trains & busses. The students were instantly drawn to it. My spouse and I would be working through a problem, and a curious student would ask what we were doing and instantly get hooked, then another, then another. It was great! We even took over a table in our hotel lobby at one point with a stack of toothpicks and chopsticks trying to figure out the matchstick puzzles in chapter 8 – much to our enjoyment and frustration. / It was a natural ice-breaker for the group and a lot of fun.
We also included a copy in our Christmas family gift exchange, along with a few block puzzles and other games. It was a well-received change to the usual sports team paraphernalia, golf gear and wine gifts that tend to dominate our exchanges. After the “winner” claimed their prize, some good-natured family competition ensued trying to solve (or solve first) several of the puzzles and riddles.
Very great questions, lots of fun and great to discuss with other intellectuals. I would recommend this highly to everyone.
